Advice on NEW Analog lead synth

I am looking for suggestions on options for a new analogue synth that can give me the widest range of lead sounds for progressive rock. I have a number of decent keyboards, but nothing that can really fill this need. Any suggestions?

Basically you just described there the Moog Voyager.

I use it myself mainly for dark ambient though, so don´t trust me.

Yup, Minimoog Voyager or Voyager OS if you want a new interpretation of a classic lead tone.

The miniD or Voyager are great choices but if you are on a budget don't forget about the Creamware MiniMax, others here like the SE as well. If you are limiting your $ to under $400 the Plugiator maybe an option for you as well although the Creamware and Plugiator are emulators and not analogue.

Don't forget the LP - it'll provide you with authentic Mini leads too.

+2 on the Voyager. I'm not a good keyboard player, but this is me doing something that might be interpreted as proggy on my Voyager RME.

One thing to note on that recording though, is that I'm using an exciter pedal at the Voyager's Mix Insert, tuned to somewhere around 3-4khz to give it more bite. That mix insert comes in handy for alot of things.

Are there any good demos of that synth? The ones the AS website are short, undemonstrative and - frankly- awful. I couldn't find anything worthwhile on YouTube either.

I agree that the recordings on the AS website certainly seem to leave a lot to be desired. Unfortunately I don't believe there are that many Leipzeig owners at the moment so tracking down other audio demos may be tricky. Keep an eye on Matrixsynth maybe?

Definitely worth looking into though.

Here's another option that can be had for 600 USD on ebay.
I use rackmounted analog synths and this was much cheaper than the Marathon Rackmounted MiniMoog for 5000 USD.
It's a Studio Electronics cheapo SE-1.
The Voyagers are excellent, but the SE-1 has the extra filters and is a 3U design which is perfect for stage.

The synth solo comes after the fake Rhodes Solo.
It was my first virtual multitrack recording, so the only quantized part was the Cubase 4 drum tracks.
The filter choice on the SE-1 was the Oberheim style ( Tom Sawyerish ).
I control all of the knobs via external controllers, but don't have the pretty German made LED wheels.
No problem, I had the option of those on Solaris for another 100 USD and had them modded.

Voyager is a great synth BTW, but most guys these days use it for it's FAT bass for dance.
I use monosynths to punish " Rock God " guitarists with. For some reason they think a single thin string of a Guitar w/ distortion is all that's needed. Sure, as long as you're beating up on a Motif, but it has no chance against my FAT BASTARDS.

We need more live warriors, and more FAT sounds, otherwise, all of these little dancy synths will be programmed behind closed doors................then again maybe that's where they need to be..

some of them, yes.
but not any 'Lucky Man' or other 3 OSC sounds...need a Mini (or Moog Modular to do exact).

also, to get into the 'brash ripping' Mini territory it helps me immensely to run the LP thru Sherman w/ high freq boost switch active, since the new Moogs are not so bright & buzzy as the old ones.

what other keyboards do u have? what is ur budget?

a voyager is a nice thing for sure, but not everyone can afford it...
