There was a Wiard system for sale...

Post by masstronaut » Wed Jan 21, 2009 6:10 pm

There was a four module Wiard system for sale on London Gumtree no so long ago. The description claimed it was the one pictured here on the Wiard site and that it was built by Grant Richter. Obviously it's gone now but I dunno, I'm just wondering if it was for real. It was £800 which seems like an amazing deal and I suppose I'm wondering just how hard I should be kicking myself for not emailing straight away. Apart from the price though what does make me wonder is the description referred to 'this auction' so I wondered if it had been taken from an auction site.

Anyone know if this unit was sold recently? Does £800 sound like a ridiculous deal?

Right, I've just noticed this ad for a 303 also on Gumtree. £700.

Note the last line - 'Sensible reserve set for this iconic machine.'

Reserve?

this thing seems like a myth... i mean it's been on sale on ebay 3-4 months ago, twice! if i rmember well it was going for 2-3000$ the first time, the second time somebody made a warning here because it was a scam... they were also suppose to be the ones pictured on the wiard site. now you say that you see it in london!
weird such fine equipment going all around the world like that.

you should better buy it right from wiard, more expensive but at least you wouldn't be screwed... twice ;-)

Ah great, that's just the sort of information I was after. Seems my instincts were correct. Also I don't feel so bad for having 'missed out'. ;)

Thanks!

I'll see if Grant wants to do a price match. :)

This is a one-of-a-kind custom synth that Grant did for someone several years ago; it was discussed on AH, and featured on his Web site for a while. I forget who commissioned it, but if it were for sale, I doubt that the seller would need to resort to any Craigslist-type Web site. Odds of it appearing anywhere for sale for 800 pounds are nil, null, and zero.
Switches, knobs, buttons, LEDs, LCD screens, monitors, keys, mice, jacks, sockets. Now two joysticks!
