First Synth for VST Junkie

Post by theleftcrown » Fri Apr 17, 2009 10:18 am

So, I've finally realised that a VST will never offer everything there is to be had in life regarding synths, and decided i desperately want a hardware synth.

The problem is I am a student (known for living in poverty) and have a tiny, tiny budget. I have a strong theoretical knowledge of synths, so my only block is this budget thing!

i have around £100 or $200 to spend, and no preferences regarding what i get besides it has to be quite hands on. The only thing ive seen, anywhere, ever is a TX7, which i plan to buy. but i'm not really getting a hardware synth with the TX7, because yet again i'll be using a PC based midi editor to get into the sounds...

does anybody have any tips as to what analogue/digital synths i could get in the UK for under £100? does anybody have one they'd like to sell? or any second hand shops in London where they have a good, cheap range?

obviously i know that there is very little indeed in this price bracket, but all suggestions will be gratefully recieved!

If you are lucky you can find a ESQ-1 for that price, also the Casio CZ line falls into your budget. A good place to start looking since you are in the UK would be the SOS reader ads.

I've moved this to buyers guide where you'll likely get more responses.
