The P600 envelopes are slower than those of the ProOne, so it doesn't get as punchy.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

If you are looking for bass sounds, don't get the Prophet 600. I was pretty underwhelmed by it overall. I love my Pro-One however. It would be perfect for electronica/IDM material. The sequencer isn't real time, so you get those very precise xoxbox style basslines. The clock in is great for syncing to drum machines. Fat pulse width modulation. But you probably already know all this  The Prophet 600 is better for strings, pads, weird noises. I wasn't impressed by it at all though. The bass will not come close to a Pro-One.

I agree with Herbert, the P600 has digital ENVs that are not so snappy (the attack is quite slow), so the bass doesn't get out punchy.
The second point is that the six voices plays the bass in a less intense manner than a monophonic synth as the pro1, I think because of the mixer/headroom of the VCA.
If you are searching for the PRO one bass sound get the Pro1 !!

About the MonoPoly, I can tell you is a gorgeous synth with great modulation capabilities but it doesn't sound "raw & American" as the Pro One.
The korg MP has a tipical japanese timbre, different from the MS series, more 80s.
The filter is great, really acid and versatile, the sound is punchy but more "rounded" while the Sequential has a more "angular" sound.
The MP is really interesting used in poly mode with every VCO with a different wave, really "experimental sounding" , and the unison mode is AWESOME!

I think the MonoPoly is one of the sexiest synths ever. I used to own a P600 and have regretted selling it for a very long time. Dont have much more to add, but I would seriously think about buying either one of those again. I've been sorta lusting to get a new MP for awhile now. BTW, did you know the MS2000 has MP features? I'm not going to compare the sound but some of the features put in that synth came straight from the ideas behind the 4 voice MP.

Bit late to the party I know but I stumbled on this while deleting some spam.

Have you checked out the Future Retro XS? It has that ballsy Pro One sound with the added bonus of being semi-modular, which is great for interesting experimental sounds if you don't want to use it for straight bass and leads all the time.

Seeing as I own both an XS and a Pro-One I can't help but agree with you. When I fired up the Pro-One one of the first thoughts I had was "I already have this synth". Not strictly true (the XS lacks the sequencer, its pots are a little more sensitive and difficult to place precisely, it only does 12 dB/oct filtering, etc.) but their sonic signatures are remarkably close.

I'd dicked about w/ P1s -that sounded different - so wasn't really invested in this opinion...but some of the spirit of the P1 was often ripping thru the 777; much more SCI-like than Roland character. But then it goes thru that odd filter and becomes its own beastie...
