I'll vote for people getting more stupid.

The question is; is there a decent market for stupidity?

Now there's one thing I don't understand about this auction:

First, it was priced 1500$, but it didn't sell. Then it was reposted at 1599$, but still no sale. Now it's listed at 1699$?!

It's less the price that the sale's technique that baffles me...
Available for sale:
-Chamber of Sounds Jupiter III (mk1) & Jupiter T (mk1)

I really want to ask this guy if this keyboard has been bathed in the blood of virgins under a solar eclipse during a full allignment of the planets in view of a four horned nine eyed goat. But he'd probably just tell me I'm unworthy for being poor and if I can't afford it that's not his fault. Yes, delusion is rarely the fault of the deluded. Either that or he's just showing it off and doesn't really want to sell it. It's kind of like taking it out and wagging it around in public, and other such infatile behavior.
Nymph, in thy orisons be all my synths remembered.

To add to space6oy's comment, he deals in admittedly, well kept (or well refurbished) gear; I had been eyeing a few machines of his for a while, but the shipping cost, on top of the premium price is a bit of a put off.

And yes, it may very well have been bathed in said blood; although the rest of the board looks spectacular, it does look like someone came directly on the pitchbend... something I would probably do myself, if that unit were within arms reach.

That said, It is sort of alarming to me (and I've stated this previously in other forum sections) how prices of older analogue gear are jumping in price at a much quicker pace than I recall years past. Some things have stayed the same, but notably the 'bigger' machines (ARP 2600, Jupiter 8, etc...) seem to be listed (not necessarily fetching, as far as I can tell) at price points almost 100% higher than they were just a year ago. :o

I've resigned myself for the short term, at least to have to live vicariously through Arturia (plugins) for fun on those machines.

Maybe a photo. There was a case on 'Judge Judy' (LOL) where some woman was selling mobile phones on e-bay, and all the buyers got were pictures of the phones. The seller was adamant that she was doing nothing wrong !

Ha ha, guilty as charged. I did end up taking $500 for it, which is still really high. But I didn't care, it was my back up that I never really needed. At first I was going to strip away most of the case a make a keyless rackmount/desktop version, for traveling with of random live use. But when I saw the jacked prices, I couldn't resist. You used to be able to snap them up for under $100 often. I bought the extra in case mine ever went dodgy, but they are built pretty well...
Hybrid88 wrote:Yeah, to be honest anyone who's willing to pay that for the controller really doesn't know much about the MS-20 - and probably wouldn't treat it with the respect it deserves or even know why they're good in the first place.

I'd say it's just noobs mistakenly buying these things basically because of the reputation of the real thing. Can't you just imagine the critical moment when they realise...
To be honest, I think the fact that you can use these to control the new iMS-20 app on the iPad is what is driving up the new interest in them.
