Take it from me, the quality of a soundcard/audio interface does very much depend on cost. Think of the interface in the novation as an "extra" rather than a replacement to a pro interface. The interface is one of the most if not the most important parts of the signal chain save from the speakers themselves, it's best to get the very best one you can afford - you'll thank yourself later for it. There is a huge difference from Pro-sumer quality interfaces to true pro quality interfaces. The apogee Duet is a great interface for you as it is a pro interface at a very reasonable price considering the technology and company involved

Trust me, I learnt all this the hard way and am still battling with a frankly horrible Edirol interface for too long #-o

Yeah, don't mind me I can be very picky with things. The novation is fine for a start while you learn to use things but if you're anything like me then an upgrade will be in the future.

Yes of course, Logic has very extensive Audio and MIDI capabilities, like I said the audio is good but I still prefer Pro Tools for that personally. The MIDI though is top notch, very easy to do things that can take ages with other sequencers, things like quantization and bender automation etc :D

BTW have you looked into the new hardware sequencers/multitrack recorders that you can get from companies like Tascam, Zoom, Boss?
