I had to sell my SH-2 last year when times were tough, but i'm looking to replace it now but have also been intrigued by the MS-10.
I've got a csq-600 to use with the sh-2 if I get it, so straight up it is at an advantage.

Which of these is better value for money?

Also, can the the MS-10 do any sounds that a Korg Mono/Poly cant?

I imagine you probably already know enough about these to make an educated decision... but in terms of value for money, the SH2 wins hands down. The ms10 is all about the filter and the woody tone. unless you love that sound, there's really nothing giving it an edge over the sh2 (aside from osc pitch env. modulation and the limited, but available patch points). They are incredibly over-priced these days anyways... (and no, the ms10 can't do anything that the M/P can't either).

I guess it would depend on what you want to use the synth for. I love my SH-2 and use it for leads and basses mostly and sometimes simple sound effects. I haven't messed with a MS-10 and have ony scratched the surface of my MS-20, but I would guess the MS series would be better suited for strange effects and noises that are only possible with patch points.

i have both an MS-10 and a mono/poly and the MS-10's simple, full low end totally outdoes the mono/poly's. filter's resonance is harsher, too. mono/poly is in general a softer sound.

Yes: MP-4, MS-20 & SH-2 (and I just scored a VC-10 Sunday).

I just love the SH-2's "bouncy" sound. I mostly use it for PWM leads, so sweet. I haven't done much with the MP-4 besides make earth shattering, 4 oscillator bases, but I understand it's capable of some unique timbres using cross modulation. Haven't done much with the MS-20 since aquiring is about a year ago. I prefer hard wired synths and don't do too much patching. Like AG, I prefer the CS-15 over the MS, but I really haven't given the MS a fair chance.

@Monolith, something I forgot to mention earlier is that the Korg MS series uses volt/Hz rather than volt/octave that the Roland SH-2 & CSQ (along with all ARP, Moog, Oberheim, Roland, SCI synths and oddly, the Korg MP-4).

What about the filter in on the sh-2 vs the MS10? Can the MS10 do any thing the sh-2 cant when it comes to external input?
Also they both seem have reputations as bass machines, which is best?

can I interface the MS-10 with my Mono/Poly at all?
