Want to sell a broken ARP Odyssey

Post by Milhouse » Mon Feb 08, 2010 5:52 pm

I bought a ARP Odyssey (black face mdl: 2813) probably four years ago. VCO1 did not work. I had a friend fix it and it worked for a few years and now VCO1 is not working again. Im just getting sick of old stuff just dying and having to fix it. I was thinkin of selling it. It also comes with a case. What do you think is a reasonable price to sell this at???

How much did it cost you to have VCO1 fixed? Based on that, do you think that that same fix might solve the problem?
Seems like a few of Oddys have sold on eBay recently. Figure what the going rate has been the last few months, deduct the repair charge, take into account any other potential wear & tear issues (dirty sliders, cosmetic issues), and you should have a reasonable idea.

Depends on the cosmetic condition. I paid $900 for a broken one in near mint shape last week with a case. You could maybe get a little more on ebay, but somewhere in that range.

Vintage synth prices have really climbed in the last while. I think that at this stage cosmetics don't affect the value very much, neither do dirty sliders. The synth is very old, so it's bound to have a few scratches. The sliders are an easy fix. I would be inclined to check the current value of a working example, and deduct the cost of the original VCO fix.
