I do love my Mopho keyboard + tetra combo, BUT, it's mostly because of the Mopho. Starting to wonder if having the Tetra as my poly synth is a little redundant, since they have the same exact engine.
This is not a reflection on the sound of the Tetra. It does sound great. If anything, I'm kind of not that big a fan of the menu diving. I'm bypassing that by controlling it with the Mopho but still... I'm just wondering if perhaps replacing the Tetra with some other rack synth to expand my sound palette a bit might be a wiser choice.
It's very important that whatever synth I take into consideration have KNOBS. I don't want to menu dive. I need something that I can program from the front panel.
Some examples of what I've looked at (within a reasonable price range): Novation Nova or Supernova, Nord Rack, etc.
These are also VA's though, so I'm wondering if they would even help to expand my palette at all, or if it would be pretty much the same thing, but in the digital realm.
Any thoughts? What suggestions would you have for me? Get a reasonably priced VA or stick with the Tetra? I may just need to spend some more time with it so I'm totally not sold on the idea of switching yet. Just trying to pick VSE's brain on the matter.

Might be out of your price range, but this is the next big analog poly I plan on getting a Rozzbox. Here's a video:
They come in both mono and poly versions. It's a very gritty sounding box, so it might not be your thing. Food for thought, either way. That website has a lot interesting choices to look at, by the way.
That's going to be after I manage to get my hands on a Supernova II. I honestly do not think you can go wrong with that choice. Very good digital synth, with tons of knobs!

i'd drop that place a line and make sure they actually still have a rozzbox... those have been unavailable for quite a while...

I just checked. They're out of stock. Nothing to see here.space6oy wrote:i'd drop that place a line and make sure they actually still have a rozzbox... those have been unavailable for quite a while...

Wow. that rozzbox looks cool, but would def be out of my price range. Anyways, I just finished a track with the Mopho and Tetra and am very happy with how it sounds, so I might just hold off from making any hasty moves, and hang on to the Tetra a bit longer.Dubersive wrote:Might be out of your price range, but this is the next big analog poly I plan on getting a Rozzbox. Still interested in reading any ideas for future reference. Thanks guys.

I say stick with tetra and mopho for now mate. At least until they bring out their update for tetra. Yes sonically similar. But with mopho on bass and tetra on chords and pads you got a good pair.

You must be out of your mind to sell the Tetra in order to get a VA...with the Tetra and the Mopho you have a 5-voice analog poly with a very good sound and lots of capabilities...aren't you happy alreadyN8-R wrote:I do love my Mopho keyboard + tetra combo, BUT, it's mostly because of the Mopho.
