Anyone on here own one? I wouldn't mind trying one someday. Would it be worth adding to my collection now? I just want to supplement my Pro One, not really find something new. Ooh, durability, is it there?

Re: OSCar
Yeah I have one. Great synth, but I guess it would depend what type of music you want to use it for - I mean the Oscillators aren't analog and you can tell, really where it sings is the filter which by the way, must be one of the most special filters I have tried - nothing like a minimoog, think more MS-20 aggression but Synthex style multimode power.
I haven't tried a Pro one in the flesh but I imagine it'd be really quite different from the demo's I've heard.
On durability, my advice would be to try and get as late a model you can (the ones with MIDI) and if possible test before you buy. I know this synth gets a bad rep in this respect but in my experience and research from other peoples opinions, I'll say this. Reliability varies between unit to unit, I get the impression if you have one that works well, you'll have (relatively) no troubles whatsoever, but if you get a dud, you'll have nothing but troubles - just look at Orbital's, there's a YouTube vid where he's talking about it and he basically says he's been fixing it and then it's broken so he gets it fixed again only to have it break and so on. However from personal experience with mine, it has been absolutely flawless from day one, it was bought new by the guy I bought it from, used occasionally from time to time and stored in a good environment for many years till now. So I guess given that it was looked after well from new has helped but I do feel conscious of the machines reputation. But really I'd say if someone isn't prepared for the possibility of reliability issues, then really, why in the world would you buy a vintage synth?
Hope this has helped, shoot me any more questions if you have any
