Evolver is a great addition to an existing electronic setup but not the one and only synth you need.
Another modern classic you should check out: Clavia Nordlead 2.
One button per function, great layout, easy to operate.

Really? I could have swore the Slim Phatty & MoPho keyboard sell new for $799 and the Mono Evolver Keyboard or Little Phatty could easily be found on eBay for $750-850. And that's just the current analogs.

I assumed the OP was looking for a poly VA, based on the Indigo comment... but if we include monos you're absolutely correct. There are quite a few more options sub-1k.
