no such thing exists w/o being a VA, does it? if i'm off, forgive me, i've had a few but as you can catch in off topic i'm planning to take a setup w/ me on a trip w/ a bunch of friends, don't want to haul anything big (though debading my 808 & 909...) but would be good to have a polyphonic synth in the mess...

Only thing that is even close that comes to mind would be the poly800 because it can run of batteries. But, well.. maybe you can make it sound ok. The MKII had a delay built in, or something, right?

If you want something tiny which has a cool sound, you're out of luck in the world of polyphony. My suggestion would be to buy an older Casio and a Moog MF-101. That's what I've done when I need extremely cheap and portable polyphony with a great sound.

In the world of 4-octave analog polys, there's also:
alpha juno 1
sixtrack
teisco sx 400
mopho kbd + tetra
not much more though…

thanks for the suggestions guys. i may just roll w/ a VA & pick up a microkorg for the 5th time... poly800's not a bad suggestion at all though. if the tetra was cheaper i'd probably go for that & my microkontrol...
