Hi all,
I've recently joined a band as a keyboard player. I've been using a MicroKORG for the gigs we've done so far and now I'm after a full-sized keyboard that I want to use as well as the MicroKORG. It is a guitar-based band, an "indie" band if you will that's influenced by Arctic Monkeys to name one. The main songwriter is in fact my brother and he'd been wanting me to play keyboard with them for a while. I've taught myself to play the piano over the last few years and whilst I'm certainly no Elton John, I'm confident my skills are good enough for this band.
Anyway, I'm just completely overwhelmed with the amount of keyboards available and have no idea what would be the right purchase. I'd like something with a good variety of sounds, including good pianos and organs. Not too bothered about editing (at the moment).
I really need help and I would really appreciate it if anybody can offer to shed some light on this.
Thanks

Stephen, I've just done a bit of reading up on the Electro and you've pointed me in the right direction already. Thanks a lot!

The nord's are the way to go. If you want exceptional piano and keyboard sounds, go for the electro. Keep in mind that the stage does everything the electro does, but it adds a synth section comparable to that of a nord wave. The nord stage it's self is very awesome in it's own right, and when you combine that with the possibility's of the synth section, you have incredible sonic options(that is taking into account that you can split and layer sounds over almost any octave). Then you add the external control section. You can take a midi sound module and map it to any part of the keyboard. This synth just keeps getting better and better...

I've decided to go for the Nord Electro 3 because it seems to have exactly what I want. Plus I chose it over the Stage for the Mellotron instruments which I really fancy dabbling with.
Thanks for all the input!

if you haven't allready pulled the trigger then hold on and look at the Korg SV-1 as well.
I've spent hours comparing this side by side with the Nord Piano, Nord Electro and Nord Stage and i've got to say something about it just draws me to preferring it.
