Korg DS-8 for 75?
Anybody have experience with these units? A local guy has one in excellent condition w/ original box for 75 bucks. They don't seem to fetch much more on ebay. Just a thought. (Anybody want to buy a DS-8 for 800.00?)

It's a fun synth. I've flipped a few of them over the past few years. I wouldn't mind keeping a nice looking one if I can come across one at a decent price. $85 is a steal. I think I've seen them sell for $200+ on the bay lately.
Basically, a 4op FM synth with built-in digital delay with modulation. A few real-time controls for controlling 2 EGs and timbre in real-time.
Here's a video demo I made a few years ago:

I'd certainly grab it. They always looked like fun and an interesting alternative to the 4-op machines that Yamaha made around the same time. The unison and unison detune always appealed to me.

I can't imagine anyone paying $200 for one of these. But $75 is a fitting price for what it is.
They are pretty cool and have the capability of making some interesting sounds, but not as complicated as normal Yamaha gear (editing is really simplified which is good, but lessens potential depth). A bit stale on their own, but add what I think is the same efx unit as the DW-8000, and you have a good sounding board. The nice thing is that the edit slider is real time, so you have some ability to "tweak".

It's basically a Yamaha FB01 engine with an alternative programming UI. The FM algorithms are preset so you can't get as crazy as with a real Yamaha. Very basic MIDI implementation. For $75 it's easily flipped if you don't like it.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

I found one a couple years ago for 24,99$ tx included in a bargain shop. It's a pretty decent synth. But I actually flipped it for 25$.
Wow 1 cent profit!
I guess I'm too much of a nice guy.

Thanks folks, sounds like a nice board, but not worth the hours drive to pick it up (and taking time out from finishing the wood floor install I'm currently embroiled in).

hm, so where's "local"? If its near me, i'd take it.
the sliders are cool, and it does everything I use my TX7 for, but more hands-on. dammit, now i want a DS8. :/
