Suggestions for a good Preamp/Interface?

Post by velocity boy » Sun Aug 19, 2012 9:16 pm

Hello, I'm looking to purchase a quality preamp/interface to record my Roland Rs-09, Sh-09, Juno 6 and RE 150. Any suggestions? I would like to just plug my synths into the preamp and have the preamp run directly to my laptop.

also, suggestions for quality speakers would be nice (so I can actually hear my synths in real-time).

Lastly, I'm looking to purchase an Arturia Minibrute. What are your thoughts on this synth?

Thanks.

There's a huge thread about the Minibrute here. General consensus is good.

What DAW are you using? How many inputs do you need to record at once? Does your laptop have firewire or is it USB only?

The OP said they wanted 'good' though.

For a small interface that sounds really good and has enough inputs for the setup you've got listed check out the Fireface UC or Fireface UCX.

I use an M-Audio 2626 - for the price and feature set, it can't be beat!

If you're on a Mac, and if it's enough to cover your needs, consider the Apogee Duet 2. IMHO what's best out there when it comes to conversion and preamplification under the €1000 bar.

If you plan on using a PC, I'll second on the M-Audio Profire series. Both the 2626 and 610 have my preference under the €1000 bar, if you disregard the Duet.

That is a great unit and I love mine as well but it's only a good suggestion for the OP if his laptop has firewire, hence my questions. Since he's not returned, I guess it's not that important.
