...found that the keys feel horribly cheap.

is it the same or worse on the Pro One?

Didn't know Korg released a follow-up to the Prophecy. I wonder why they called it the Prophecy 5 and not 2? Strange world we live in.

lol, there you go.

And to answer your question; usually. Many Pro-One's have the same Pratt Read "J-Wire" keybed found on the Prophet-5.

A poorly maintained Pratt Read keyboard might be uneven, the keys might click and clack because of dried up bushings, and it's overall a shitty experience to play. But once they've been properly serviced and leveled, they feel outstanding. Seriously, one of the best synth action keyboards I ever used. In my opinion, anyway.

I own a Pro One. It was my first vintage synth and everything I read prior to buying it was "make sure you get the J-wire keyboard, the membrane one sucks." My bushings were ancient and I replaced them immediately. It made a big difference...at first. The keys felt like new after getting new bushings and lube, no noise and very soft. However, I let it sit for weeks at a time when I'd play other synths as I acquired them and each time I went back to the 'ol Pro One, the keys were sticky again and needed some playing time before they felt soft again. I don't know if this happens to all vintage keys but it's been my personal experience with this synth. On the other hand, I also own a Prophet 600 which has a membrane keyboard. Not sure if it's the same membrane keyboard as the newer Pro Ones, but I love that keyboard! Always soft and quiet compared to my Pro One. At this point I just sequence the Pro One and ignore the keyboard. Just my 2 cents.

Yup, I felt the same until I put new bushings in my P5 - holy cow, what a difference!
