Arturia Spark LE

Anyone here have experience using the Spark LE ? I am looking at it as a temporary drum machine since I am currently without one. How well does it function as a piece of hardware considering it is tethered to the computer (ie, can I just load up sounds and pretty much use it like an 808 with the step sequencer or an MPC with the pads) ? How easy is it to make my own kits ? How do I go about creating and storing patterns; are they just saved in my DAW as MIDI files or is there a separate library like there would be on an MPC ? Thanks for any tips.. Seems like it could be a good piece of kit since they can be found for less than $200.

The software can be run without the controller. Download the demo to get most of your answers.

Sorry that's what I think of every time I see that name written down.

I've had one for review for a bit but am now waiting for Spark V2. I like it and am likely to sell my EMX-1 and keep it. Does the 808/909 sound like an 808/909? sorta... but its more tweakable than just having samples... and it can load samples, etc.
And yes.,, some of the arturia reps do say 'sparkle'

I think not sounding exactly like them isn't a huge deal anyway since I can drop samples I made myself of an 808. I think I might go for it when I have the money. I just hope I get on with it because I don't see myself being able to resell for more than half the price I pay.

I slightly prefer the full Spark over the LE just because you can keep your hear down on it and 'work' on it like its a drum machine, whereas you have to glance at the monitor for the SparkLE, because it doesn't have the display. On the other hand, the LE seems well built and comes with a little zippered sleeve...
