Jupiter 6 for ?

I sold my Juno-106 for a Jupiter-6 a few years ago. After really using the Jupiter I came to the conclusion that it's not my bag, it's too airy? I actually liked my 106 more. I have a DSI P08 and a Univox/Korg 700s and both, though different, are very present. I use them in a rock setting with live drums and guitars, they cut better, and I like them alot.

I've been looking at cutting the Jupiter 6 loose and getting a few synths. I've been looking at the Sub 37 for more programmable lead and bass sounds and also picking up a DSI P6. Do you think the 08 and 6 would be too similar?

My favorite sounds come from Devo, The Cars, and Tubeway Army.

What does 'airy' mean?
JP6 way more powerful than a 106.

I think he means crisp, lacking bottom end, a touch weak in some places.

I've had all the junos and think the 106 has a great overall (non weak) tone but it is clearly very limited and not as exciting as the Jupiter (or Prophet 08/REV2/P6).

You can get a large range of sounds out of the prophet 6, without having to use tons of modulation like rev2 to get there, just good tone, great filter, sounds gorgeous. Best sounding DSI/modern analog I've had through here (on loan but getting my own soon). I vastly prefer it to the 'samey' and limited OB-6 too (inc tonality)

Before getting rid of the Jupiter try putting it through a good chorus. When using the second oscillator avoid using Sync and tune it exactly one octave below the first oscillator using only sawtooth and square/pulse waves. Don't use Cross Mod and don't modulate oscillator pitch with an envelope. Keep the filter on low pass. Keep the LFO on triangle wave. Don't modulate the VCA with the LFO and don't modulate the pulse-width with the envelope generator. This should get you as close as possible to the Juno 106.
