And you can tell that from a single demo?? Wow, grow up....KnowGood wrote:Albino is goddamn awesome. Predator is s**t!!!
Besides, Papen's demos aren't known to be "mind blowing", they're just regular patches that are usable in regular music.
Or are you really trying to tell me that the albino demo patches were THAT much better and that they blow you away in comparison?

I've been using 1.1 and bought Predator soon after it was released.
It's damn good, if you want a top of the line VA that rivals a Nord 2 or a Virus B/C. At this point I'd say the only reason to get one of those older hardware VA synths is because of their real-knob UI.
Not as feature-rich as Albino, but it's easily approachable and, IMO, has better sound.
Give the demo a whirl.

From trying the demo I can tell you that this is a rather good synth with a good interface. A bit rougher sounding than some... Good for the more gritty/fat analog type sounds... Rather than the smooth type analog sounds that fabfilter twin can pull off... The two make a good pair for easy interface analog style VSTis IMO.
I Use it now and then - for a softie its not bad. I agree with above it is more gritty than Albino - which I didnt like - too smooth and too bloody complicated matrix. Ive used most of the software synths and Predator is a keeper for me over all NI (apart from Massive). If only Zeta+ was Mac compatible. Im still not sure these soft synths are as good as a good VA hardware. What about JP8000s AN1X s? Id be interested to know what others think and how they sound side by side....

I personally find software to be on par with or surpassing most digital hardware synths sound-wise... But of course if you want hardware, you get hardware. Interface, live use, ect. ect. ect... But I still have the old AN1X because it's lightweight, 61 keys, aftertouch, ribbon, ect... Perfect for a jamming/gigging synth and controller.SWAN wrote:I Use it now and then - for a softie its not bad. If your soundcard is sampling at 96 it's definitely on par with hardware VAs, soundwise. Passes up the Nord2 and Virus ABC.
State of the art sound programming with tons of controls layed out on one screen (yes, there are a couple paneles tabbed away, but that's it).
I love this thing. This is the VST I've been waiting for... a no-nonesense softsynth that shreds like an older hardware VA. It's very expressive and musical.
