so korg have brought out the legacy collection (well some time ago)
i was wondering why none of the other old synth manufacturers have done this?
they seem quite happy to let other people do "faithful copies" of their old beloved synths
now i for one would be much happier to buy a virtual jupiter 8 plug in made by roland as oppose to arturia who have a less than brilliant track record for the accuracy of their emulations.
have the likes of roland and yamaha, missed an opportunity? im sure they have the in-house facilities to pull this kind of project off.
could the smaller synth companies that still exist like buchla and EMS do the same? (oh god how i would love a EMS synthi VST!)
opinions?

There are a few EMS synthi plugins.
This one made by EMS them self but in SynthEdit
http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1186.html
And this one made in Max/MSP.

I quit like the later one and it's free, the EMS one is very expensive considered that it's made in SynthEdit.
I have also heard mixed reports regarding it's sound.

That synthedit one IS alot of fun though, truth be told....I almost died when I saw this though...

Roland essentially DOES make softsynths of alot of their old gear, they just put it into hardware and sell it at higher proprietary costs. Overall, I think the ways of the old and this 'new=fangled' computer revolution are still have issues that have not come to full light yet ...most likely in regards to financial supplementation of the route of conforming to a standardized platform...ie, you build your OWN platform, you need not conform, and you can (possibly) yield higher profits.

Can't help you with the Windows site of things since I use a Mac, but it just recently got ported to Windows so maybe there are some bugs there.Bill_Schroder wrote:How do I get the free French EMS synthi to work? It's only avaible on windows in French, which I do not understand.
You do have Pluggo runtime installed right?

I'm not sure what they're going to offer, but Roland now has an empty Soft Synth box on their US site: http://www.rolandus.com/products/subcat ... arentId=17

Exactly. I doubt any other big manufacturers will put the efort into making softies of their old stuff that will run on PCs considering how quickly KLC got cracked.fOZf8 wrote:Roland essentially DOES make softsynths of alot of their old gear, they just put it into hardware and sell it at higher proprietary costs. I was informed on another forum that it used to contain the Roland/Edirol Sound Canvas, and that it was moved to the legacy page. So it may be nothing. I got happy there for a minute when I saw it.krushing wrote:Interesting. Arturia's Jupiter 8 softsynth is due out in a week or so, so that will be cool. They usually do a good job with their emulations.
