Midi, SoftSynth, Soundcard, Hardware DAW question ???

Hi there
This is an off-shoot of a post I made in the General Synthesizers section regarding early 80s analogues. It can be found here.
To cut a long story short. Although I intend getting my hands on some vintage analogues synth in future (if I can), for the time being I'm opting for a Juno-G with an SRX-07 'Ultimate Keys' expansion board, but also want to draw on soft synts too....in particular Arturia's Jupiter8 synth.
I'm newish to midi and am aware that my laptop will require a midi/usb interface (any product recommendations for this would be appreciated). My laptop isn't that great but I intend to tweak it here and there. Currently I have:
- Vista (home edition)
- AMD 64 Athlon x2 Dual Processor 1.70 Ghz
- 736 MB Ram (which I intend adding 1GB to asap)
- Sound Card? As far as I can gather it's a Realtek Digital High Definition Output using driver version 6.0.1.5413. I would have thought I could find out a particular model in my device manager but nope!
Will the above specs suffice?
What else I would like to know is a midi question. Would I be able to use my hardware DAW (Boss BR1200CD) to record stuff. I could use the Juno-G I guess. However, if I wish to mix one or to vintage soft sounds with an array of audio stuff like guitars, bass and saxophone - do I take a 'midi out' of my laptop into the 'midi in' on the Juno-G, then a 'midi out' of the Juno-g into the 'midi in' on my BR1200 DAW?
Apologies if I haven't understood the midi thing properly. I did read a fair bit. Just a bit of information overload for me this week...lol
Any advice on the above would be greatly appreciated.
Kindest Regards
E1
