freeware VSTi plugin to stack VST synths?

Post by MrHope » Sun May 25, 2008 6:50 am

Is there any kind of freeware VST plugin that will host other VST instruments and allow me to send MIDI from one channel to 2 or more VST instruments at the same time? I'm realising that I get much thicker sounds when I stack the synths, but it gets tedious copying and pasting MIDI to duplicate tracks.

Any ideas?

Hmmmm. Chainer didn't work on my system. Perhaps the download was corrupt. At any rate I found out that EnergyXT can work as a VST plugin and host at the same time allowing stacking of VST instruments. Looks like I'll be using that instead.

Chainer kicks a*s and is very affordable.. one of the better vst hosts i know of but its been a couple years since its last update. Notably, it was a first-of-kind.. but there are alot of options out there now (like the mentioned semi-modular EnergyXT, which has a active and friendly userbase).

You can do it natively in live by arming more than one track - I think you shift click the button IIRC.
