I have a question for all of you

Post by Oavatos » Thu Jul 03, 2008 6:56 pm

I'm looking for a softsynth that can help me get a certain sound. I hear a lot of rabbit in the moon use the sound, It's a real smooth sequenced sound. if you played mungyodance, or listen to D~Mode~D the song Atmos Break has it. it's that really fast paced but smooth sequencer that seems to just kinda be gliding up and then down. anyone think they can help?

It would be really really helpful if you could post a short mp3 or demo with the sound you're looking for :)

I'll take a complete stab in the dark, assume you mean a TB-303, and send you here http://d16.pl/index.php?menu=10 and here http://www.audiorealism.se/abl/abl2_announcement.htm

Yup! that'll work fine XD thank you very much. i'm also looking for another softsynth. The streets used the sound in Blinded by the lights, and i think DJ Sammy used it in Heaven if you all know what i am talking about.

Again a complete stab in the dark due to lack of examples (also an important point - specify the time when the sounds enter in the song!). I've managed to find both songs but I'm unable to find similarity between the sounds. In the Streets track it seems to be a gated guitar sound (imagine someone moving the volume up and down really fast), and in the DJ Sammy track it's a so-called "supersaw" played staccato.

Making a supersaw isn't hard; all you need is a VST plugin that has it either built in as oscillator waveform, or a VST plugin that has unison + detune options - meaning that a 'voice' that has 2 or 3 oscillators is multiplied by 2, 3, or 4 effectively resulting in 3 x 3 = 9 oscillators, all detuned a little bit.

More about supersaws : http://acapella.harmony-central.com/sho ... stcount=11

New Problem

Post by Oavatos » Tue Jul 08, 2008 3:10 am

So i got a bassline program. creakbox badboy. sounds pretty neat. but for some reason there's not actual detection of any midi being done. ableton just doesn't detect that it's playing so i can't really record it. i want to get this working real bad. i can still use ableton to host the plugin and it sounds good, but no recording can be done.

Sounds like your best bet would be to route the plugin to an audio track and record it's output there. I'm not 100% on how to do that in live, since I only use logic...

If you're looking for good free plugins, you might also want to check out togu audio line (uno-62 and bassline are both great) and audjoo helix.
