I've been using Logic Studio at a friend's and it's so good that I'm thinking of getting it myself. But there are some things that it lacks, like the Session View in Ableton, which I only read about and never used, but reviews on the net praise its ease of use. Another thing is Time Warping, available in Ableton but not in Logic. Everything else though in Logic I like and having never used Ableton, I don't know if the two are equal in sound and ease of use. The instruments and fx in Logic sound good, and the price is simply unbeatable! My Mac is in repair for now and I'm moving pretty soon so I don't have the time or the ability to test a demo version of Ableton. I read in a review that the sampled instruments in Suite are quite clean and cold sounding, and what about the synths in Ableton?
If the instrument library in Ableton is as good as in Logic then only the price would keep me from getting it right away.
Btw: is there a drum grid editor in Ableton?
Any advice welcome!
Logic Studio or Ableton Live Suite?

you can get a free demo of ableton from their website:
http://www.ableton.com/downloads
and the LE version comes with nearly every single m-audio product.
session view is great if you do loop based music, or you want a "playable" sequencer for live remixing or whatevs.

Logic has timewarping it's basically called timestretching! Logic has had it long before Ableton Live! You can't go wrong with Logic Studio. It has way more virtual instruments and effects than Ableton Live! You really can't compare the two it's just not fare to. I think more professionals producers use Logic Pro 8 than Ableton because it is solid for studio work, movie sound tracks and now with Mainstage, live work!

to be fair, logic's timestretching is terrible.
I'm still debating switching to Live.

Well as has been mentioned the deom of Live is freely available. Download it, use it and then see how you go.
From a usability perspective I think Logic is one of the most annoying programs I've ever used and Live is by far the most intuitive. That was using Logic 7 though, I have 8 now and it's not so bad. Live still kills it for ease of use though.
