Any Jupiter 8-emulation vsts other than Arturia's?
Are there any VSTs that do a good job of emulating Roland's Jupiter 8? I am aware of Arturia, but Arturia has a bad reputation of recycling oscillators and lag issues.

I don't know of any other VST that directly emulates the Jupiter 8, but I do quite like the Arturia Jupiter 8.

Thanks, probably will get the Arturia. I've read this requires a dongle? Is this true? My laptop only has 2 usb outs which will already be consumed by my audio interface and midi keyboard. Is there anyway around the dongle issue?
Also, do you anticipate any problems in buying a used copy from Ebay? I.e., Arturia does not limit the number of installs or something along these lines?

For the dongle; use a hub. Yes, it requires one, and it's why I avoid Arturia synths.
Used copy: chances are that you get a worthless copied CD-rom with a crack installed on it.
However, if it is legit, Arturia may require you to pay a license transfer fee. Some MI manufacturers simply forbid resale outright. For clarity on that, it's probably best to read the terms and conditions on their site and mail 'm if it's not 100% clear.

Sonic Projects OP-X has some Jupiter 8 sounds I believe. Also, U-he Ace can do some of the sounds pretty closely.

I personally really like the Arturia version. I haven't had any problems with lag issues when using it though, but I guess that doesn't mean others haven't. I don't really know of any other vst that even does an emulation of it.ihavezippers1 wrote:Are there any VSTs that do a good job of emulating Roland's Jupiter 8? The dongle must be used, which kind of sucks. I bought a usb hub though, and it works just fine. I guess just make sure you don't lose the dongle.Yoozer wrote:For the dongle; use a hub. Yes, it requires one, and it's why I avoid Arturia synths.

lol...so the dongle fails at deterring pirates, yet succedes at annoying paying customers. brilliant!krzeppa wrote:I personally really like the Arturia version. This looks like a psychotropic reaction. No wonder it's so popular...
