More Novation Remote SL questions...

I too have some Remote SL questions.

Which is better, the Mk1 or Mk2.

I'd think the Mk1 would be with dual LCD screens.. but granted, the encoders on Mk2's have those fancy radial LED "rings" around them.

I'm in the market for an SL product. I am curious if the keyboards have aftertouch.

I'm probably wanting a Zero unit rather than one with keys.. unless I got a hot deal on a 61SL. Seems the zero is more handy since you can put it just about anywhere and still use your choice of keys.

I have gave thought of getting a SL Compact model, but the limited controls make me avoid those models.

And forget about mapping and all that, can I put custom Sysex in for each control?

Sorry for all the questions, I have just gotten lazy lately on downloading manuals and sifting through them for answers.
Seems most of the fancy controller keyboards like M-Audio Axiom or Akai MPK series wont do anything but Control Changes.. not even proper NRPN's (I think EMU's Xboards can do NRPN's though).

you can put in *NRPNs* for each control...

Mk 2 has radial rings and the sliders have longer throw. Mk 1 has dual LCD screens. The keys have channel (mono) AT and are pretty much just like the keys on the Impulse.

I'm not sure what that means, channel/mono AT.

I'm guessing it does velocity, but not aftertouch?

It means the aftertouch is all or nothing, instead of polyphonic (per-key)

Channel aftertouch is 'normal' aftertouch

ok. so each key can do AT, but only one at a time?

See, I dont ever seem to find these simple answers in reviews and most ebay listings are not informative at all.

On *most* keyboards that can do aftertouch, aftertouch is applied to all the notes on the keyboard that are using it as a modulation source. This is 'normal', and hence why people just say 'has aftertouch', because anything different is considered something to remark about.
