Looking for a midi looper, either hardware or software, where i could upload midi files, trigger them using an external controller and transmit the midi to an external synth.
Thanks

Re: Midi Looper
You're describing a sequencer, or at least one possible function of one.
What's your budget, is your application live performance, having fun at home, playing Glastonbury, etc.????

I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Right, sequencer...meatballfulton wrote:You're describing a sequencer, or at least one possible function of one.

No budget as of right now.
And it's intended for live performance.
At one point I remember using Virtual DJ to loop audio tracks, it was easy to assign loops to midi keys and i did like the toggle function, so i'm looking for something in that sense, except for midi.
Thanks again

Re: Midi Looper
There are ways to get Ableton Live stupid cheap...free even.
It gets bundled with lots of hardware (keyboard controllers, audio interfaces, etc.). Although I own the full blown Suite version ($$$$) I have three or four installer CDs for various Live Lite versions sitting around gathering dust.
Download the demo and try it out.

ie. upload say 3 midi files, assign #1 to C, #2 to D, and #3 to E and play the midi files back using a keyboard.
Like a sampler but for midi data...
Thanks for the suggestions though

Re: Midi Looper
Go to youtube and watch a video showing off Ableton Live's session view; it does exactly what you are describing which is why MBF suggested it you.
Grab yourself a cheap controller for launching clips, like a launchpad or anything really, and it will likely come with a free lite version, which if all you plan on doing is launching and sending midi clips to external gear, does everything you need.
Worth looking into at least before you laugh it off. It sounds like it is exactly what you are looking for.

Whoa, that's really cool, first time I ever heard of session view, that should do the trick.
Guess i'll have to adapt to Ableton now.
Thanks Guys
