Acer W3 Win8 tablet - anyone use one?
I bought this tablet for my lovely bride last October and she decided in about 3 minutes she had no use for it. Just found it now and wondering if there is any musical use for it? Anyone using a small 7"Windows 8 tablet for any musical software? It's got that tiny ph9one USB plug, so it does have USB

Well, most regular Windows apps (or programs?) should run on it, since it runs actual Windows 8, not RT.
I'd try a lightweight VST host and a few free VSTs for starters, just to see how it goes.

SunVox is pretty cool. It was designed for tablets but is available on just about anything, and the Windows version is free. I have it on my 7" Android and it's usable but I do think it's better with a keyboard attached.

Will definitely check out Sunvox, thanks
Honestly, I know nothing about VSTs, what would be a typical lightweight one? I believe I have 2 GIG of ram and a 32gig disk.
Thanks again, and in advance

Light weight as in CPU cycles . The Waldorf edition bundle is fairly light on CPU , SQ8l , ect ....

I found that SaviHost, and the free OP-X synth, which sounds pretty good
Might have to think about getting the full version since the free one times out every couple of seconds lol

I've dumped ReNoise on mine. Every month I load it with samples from Computer Music and Future Music, and with a small stylus (definitely required) you can play around with small sequences and riffs.
It's amazing how much experimentation you can get done with eight or ten 20-min bus rides to and from work throughout the week.
