My teenage daughter wanted to try out my sampler, but it has lived in the loft for a decade too long I fear.
It's an Akai S01 and when it tries to read the floppy drive I see " _ _ F " on the display.
Is there a list of error codes and their meanings anywhere, please? The original paper manual does not list any.
I'm guessing I'd need to replace the drive, but this was only meant to be a bit of fun for my kids.

My floppies get slight traces of mold on the magnetic surface and causes all kinds of problems, from squeaky disc spin to failure to read. I have one of the old disk cleaners, a felt pad in a floppy case and a bottle of fluid. Usually after a clean (of the drive), I also check the floppy disc for mold, if ANY sign of, I don't use. I have new-old-stock disc and use them to recover the situation. If the mold is present I condemn it.
Maybe investigate that first before thinking about the replacement floppy drive which would be a GOTEK unit anyway.
