An awesome person from this community restored all my disks (which were on HD disks - my bad) onto a Gotek drive. The problem I am having now is my machine sometimes decides that the disk is not formatted. Even when I take the thumb drive out. (before it would say "insert OS" or something like that.)
I've had the thing since 1994. I believe the connection on the mother board that the ribbon connects to is messed up. It's old and it probably just needs a tune up. It seems to not like it when it is stuffy or hot in the room but I can't leave the window unit in the music room on all the time because that drives up the electric bill.
And sometimes I leave the AC on for an hour and it still does that.
Anyone else have this problem?

Saw your other post on GS. Glad you got it resolved. Your suspicion sounds correct, it's a temperature problem. Connection is being made or broken as the metal expands or contracts. The solution is probably to replace the ribbon cable and probably reflow some solder joints too.

So I took my ensoniq to a place in Austin called Switched On. They specialize in synthesizer and musical hardware repair. I told them what I thought the problem was. A long time ago when tinkering with the ribbon I had accidentally had the holes and the prongs on the motherboard not lined up perfectly and so when I pushed down some of the prongs got bent. I straitened them out with little needle nose pliers but the on-again off again "disk not formatted" error, of course, kept up its devout mission to make me pull my hair out and scream.
They had it fixed in less than an hour. Yes, the pins on the motherboard whatchamacallit were a little bent and that (32-pin I believe) whatchamacallit needed to be reseated. My beautiful machine came back from the dead!
Until yesterday. Yesterday it started giving me the same nonsense. Of course, I live in Texas it has never been this hot before and like I said in my previous post I don't keep the window unit going in that room 24/7. (Usually because the badass window unit in my adjacent bedroom keeps that room from becoming intolerably hot.) I honestly thought that the whatchamacallit should have been entirely replaced but it worked fine since November.
I should have thought of this before typing all this out but I am pretty sure I have an extra ribbon so I'll try swapping them out but I guess I'll ask this anyone:
How hot does a room need to get before the actual motherboard components start to be affected? It's gotten up to 110 in Texas (where I live) but I doubt it got that hot in that room.
