I bought a ax60 a few months back, and a few weeks ago I read on the internet that i have a "special edition" because some of the ax60 they produced have an exlusive akai-sampler input for note-trigging samples and i seem to have that one. But there was very little information about this on the internet on whitch samples that could communicate and so on.
Does anyone have some information on this?
How is the first Akai-samplers( I assume its only the first ones that it "speaks" with because the other ones werent made at the time ax60 was produced)
And is it worth it? Because i do consider a sampler and if i could trigger it by my synth at the same time that would be chool.

IIRC all the Ax60's have an input for the early Akai samplers.S612 etc..You use the sampler like an Osc. to be filtered by the AX60's VCF,VCA,LFO etc. Archetecture has a page up on Sealed's webpage w/ samples.
Question: I've noticed there are at least 2 types of AX60 on the net.One has all blue buttons for the patch area, a graph of an envelope on the far right side of the machine and more sliders.A picture of this is on the akai AX60 webpage.
The second type has a couple of red buttons throughout the panel, blue and white buttons on the patch select area and the logo VCO on the right hand side of the machine. Example of a picture is the Audioplayground site ax60 page. Anyone know the differnces between these models or if they both exist.Thanks...

Sorry this is the only pix i found but there is acctually a difference, and as i have understand the upper one doesnt seem to have an sampler input.
Some info http://homepage.mac.com/synth_seal/html/ar_ax60.html http://www.synthmuseum.com/akai/akaax6001.html

I checked both websites you posted. Both say the AX60 can be used w/ one of the early Akai samplers. The Photo w/ all the blue buttons is the one provided by Akai.I've seen several copies of this photo on several websites w/ different backdrops. The only ones I've seen on actual auctions are all the second type w/ the red buttons. I own this type as well. Perhaps the blue button version is a mock up or prototype.Anyone seen a 25 slider all blue button version?
