Should I hock my A3000?

Post by Brando » Tue Dec 26, 2006 6:47 am

About 4 years ago I got a second-hand Yamaha A-3000 for a couple hundred bucks. I used it maybe once or twice. And then it sat in my rack unused ever since. I put it on consignment at my local music store, but no one has so much as looked at it. I'm wondering if its even worth trying to sell, or if I should just hock it at the pawn shop for beer money. Is this thing even worth any $$?

Use it in live mode as an effects processor - it is still worth using that way if you don't want to actually use it as a sampler. I think it is far more valuable that way than selling it/pawning it, but do as thou will.

cheers,

You'll get more on Ebay than you will from a pawn shop.

I always hated how they sounded ... might be a decent effects box though ... a bit big.

He's right. I know a pawnshop owner who buys stuff at normal pawnbroker prices, then flogs them on eBay for a large profit.

i know some pawn shop owners...and they are all f**k crooks. the only way to get a good deal at a pawn shop is to hoc something you stole, or be good friends with them in a crookish sort of way.

on the upshot...a pawn shop owner makes a good band manager, if you accept the fact that they are assholes that might take your money.

Selling to pawns is always bad, buying from pawns is usually good once you get to know them and they get to know you ;)

Almost every piece of gear I've sold I end up missing. The A3k isn't very large; if you don't need the money, I wouldn't get rid of it.
