Fairlight samples on Emulator II

Post by rdemon » Sat May 19, 2007 12:10 am

I'm looking for the ORCH5 and ARRH (SARRAH) samples for Emulator II. Do you know which EII disk they may be on?

Arr 1 is on the "Vocals 2" factory disk. Or maybe its vocals 1, or vocals 3.

Do you have the factory disks? I have all of them in SD for EII format.

I just got a mac with SD for E2 and the factory disks.

Do you have any idea how they got the samples onto the factory disk. Did they resample a fairlight or use the original fairlight samples?

Interesting question. Arr1 is actually multisampled, so I'm assuming they sampled the output of a Fairlight, in order to faithfully re create "that" tone. It doesn't work, in my opinion. It sounds much more like an EII than a CMI. No Fairlight magic. I have Arr 1 in my ESI4000 from the digital domain CD- it sounds like a Fairlight with production magic on it. Which is good, because an unprocessed IIx sounds like shite!

Now; the EII choir, from the Mellotron master tapes, that's fab.

The original Arr1 is not a multisample, as is the case with all of the IIx factory library, except for the harpsichord (!). It is apparently a sample of a woman from the Fairlight office, called Sarah.
