Roland SPD-S.....synching options?

Does the Spd-s send of receive midi clock information when playing back a sequence. So far to my knowledge it does not, which makes the device seem like its only marketed as an acompany piece of equipment for the live drummer to play along with or add a few extra sounds to their kits.
