Hi there,
I'm thinking about getting one of these, but need to know a couple things first. I thought about the MPC, but I prefer the randomness/structure of step sequencing.
I want to use my own samples in conjunction with my TR drum machines, just some drum samples, sound effects, pitched vocals etc.
I've never used a sampler before, but I imagine the ESX can be used just like an 808, and all i have to do is sequence my samples, and sync it up?
Obviously I need a dinsync to midi convertor, which do you guys recommend? I'm thinking about the Kenton Pro 2000 or the Mark II from http://www.innerclocksystems.com/ thoughts?
Excuse the newb questions, Im just having trouble working out in my head how I'm going to integrate everything.
All I want to do is sequence the ESX, so it can play the samples in time with a master clock, I'll also be using the other equipment in my sig, so I'll need a convertor to accomodate the other dinsync gear. I can trigger the sh-101 with the 707, so thats no problem.
How hard would it be to incorporate the esx, 808 etc, into a live act?
Thanks!

w/ a dinsync->MIDI converter you should be set.
You might want to add a MIDI thru box to avoid daisy-chaining MIDI cables, reducing MIDI-sync lag.
the ESX can act as MIDI masterclock or it can sync as a slave.

You'll feel right at home on the ESX with the TR style sequencing, it's even easier than the 808.ramos wrote: I imagine the ESX can be used just like an 808

Both the kenton and the markII look like a good choices, or you can get a midi retroft kit for the 808:
