hey, i did an upgrade on the pad in the mpc1000, it's the first blue/red version. but after i did so the pad sensitivity is very weak with jj os free and OS1. i have to bang them very hard, even with the sensitivity to the top, to get something close to 90.

weird thing is that i also tried it the akai os 2.12 and it work just fine.

does anybody came across this problem? and what your work around?

Did you adjust the pad sensitivity in the misc config section to be high? I think that's where it's hidden

yep, all the way to 25. by the misc config section you are talking about the section that contain also the adjustment for the footpedal on f3? just so we are speaking of the same place.

if i remember correctly you do have jj os2 or os2xl? do you have more adjustment possibility then on os1? i heard of something like threshold or something like that. i looked in the manual available on the web but it wasn't explained with these settings.

That'd be the same place - I've only got the free jjos right now, I'm afraid of putting on the newer ones and not knowing how it works . I read _something_ about jjos and pad issues, I'll see if I can find it later

for now i also use the free jj os. i did try the os1 without the serial number purchase without any succes. for now it's fine because i'm preparing a show and i use the full velocity fonction but after this i would like to use the aftertouch, wich is also working at 127 when the full velocity is used.

i search alot on the mpc forum but i haven't found much of info. anyway, when somebody say that he's using the free jj os they usualy beat him to death i still don't understand why because even the free os is better then the akai os, in terms of possibilities.

let me know if you find something, i'll continue my quest.

comparison chart shows that OS1 and OS2 have advanced modes of adjusting pad sensitivity? I think this means that you can have a threshold, and anything below the threshold doesn't register as a note on or something like that. Doesn't help you.

seems to be some evidence that if your unit has "the pad upgrade" then some JJ OS versions are not compatible, but others might be, or something. Not sure at all really, sorry

seems like the free os doesn't work with the pad upgrade. i asked on the thread what is that silicone mod with the pads.

by the way i red your blog on woopwoop . i didn't tought english people (well, of course not everybody) of canada had that reaction about the cuts in arts subventions.

Weird that when you tried the OS1 without a serial it didn't fix the problem, I hope you figure it out

Thanks for reading! I am extremely dissatisfied with our current leadership. It's not even what they've done so far as much as what you can see they intend to do (draconian copyright bill, more arts+culture cuts, etc) and how they try to do it ("lets try to sneak this in before anyone notices")

for what i understood when i tryed the OS1 it seems that only the display of the settings was different. there was no threshold or any other setting to be adjusted. the OS2 and OS2XL, like you said, on the chart, it seems like they have advanced features. but when looking in the online manual there is no mention of any other parameters to be adjusted. i was aiming at the OS2 or OS2XL anyway because of the advance features. i'll continue to read and search about this.

"lets try to sneak this in before anyone notices" is the new guideline. i do realy feel that the current deciders (here and elsewhere as well) needs to be shaken quite a bit. i do believe in democracy as it should be but not as it is right now "i can do whatever i want after i'm elected". i'm even more dissatisfied with the current gouv by how they manage to stay in the parliament by installing the fear factor to the country about another election. yes, it would be the 5-6th in 5 years but damn stop being so arrogant to the other party when you are in minority. and please don't vote for him again!

i reinstall OS1 to give it another try, yes i'm stubborn sometimes.

looks like i haven't look in depth the first time. because now i've found that there's 2 adjustment you can do. one for each pad (threshold) and another for the global sensitivity. so my mpc went from, give me a hammer to reach 67 of velocity, to playing with 1/2 the force used to have 127 of velocity on my nord modular.

so now everything's fine.
