I have just purchased a Roland SP-700 for $21, couldn't help myself for the price! Looked like a bargin, did some background research on it, wasn't an awful lot I could find!
This particular model currently has 8mb of ram, I know it can be upgraded to 32mb, but how accessible are these now, and any idea of cost?
I was also looking to find some of the original sounds that went with this, nothing currently on e-bay, so I guess I am also interested in how available these are to, and what the cost is.
I have read that you can upload Akain 1000 samples, but there may me a drop in quality of sound?
Anyone that has one of these that can shine some light would really appreciate it.

Look on eBay for memory expansion. The SP-700 uses the same 4MB SIMMS as S-760 samplers which are usually under $10 each. Roland format sounds show up on eBay every so often but, you will probably pay more for many of them than you did for the SP. Akai S1000/1100 disks should work without any problems in most cases. Get a CD-ROM drive for loading Roland and Akai disks and get a Zip drive to save your Akai file conversions for faster loading. SCSI for Samplers is a good place to get a CD-ROM drive and they will probably throw in several sound disks of your choice with the deal. http://www.scsiforsamplers.com/

The info above is not correct!!!
The SP-700 DOES NOT use the same 4MB SIMMS as S-760 samplers
The SP-700 uses 30-pin SIMM's and the S-760 uses 72-pin SIMM's
