I think for many, Depeche Mode's samples for the Emulators are considered the Holy Grail of samples for these samplers.
My curiousity is getting the best of me and I'd like to know if anyone knows what they sampled to get these unique, highly identifiable sounds.(not just the drums but the keys as well).

they were the best sampler workstations on those years and a vital part of its setup.

I like the sound of this EMAX:

Think I'd sell a body part for those... read in a magazine somewhere a while back that Alan Wilder has all their sounds backed up too.

Same here. Listenening to their music you can pick out synth sounds layered with natural sounds, clashes mixed with bass, pianos etc. etc. The SGR collectors CD album shows them recording pebble noises along a sheet of metal and mention of banging objects on corrugated metal sheets. But I know what you mean, loads of their synth keys work is pretty unique.
