Anyone used the "vintage drum machine" mode on NI Maschine?

Was just randomly watching the videos and saw this feature (emulating the mpc60/sp1200). Anyone able to comment on how they sound compared to the real thing? Saw one brief clip where the guy played a single cymbal sound through the different modes.... really helpful!
I would want to know if it adds all the aliasing you get from either vintage machine when down-tuning.

I think most software emulations whether it be ableton redux chained with a saturator, d16 decimort, maschine, etc
All do a really good job at emulating the sound of the mpc 60. Sp1200 is a bit harder to emulate because of the analog filters and outputs.

The best way to sound hi fi is to make sure your samples recorded or used are in mono.

If you are recording vinyl to your computer make sure you record at a level that is a small value short of hitting the red on your meters.

If you sample vinyl record the break at 45rpm then pitch it down with the software sampler. Pitch in light increments to see which tones you like

Thanks for the suggestions, but I think you might have been missing my basic question, which was how well does Maschine emulate the Sp1200? I know everyone always mentions the filters, but for me, the SP sound is all about the incredible aliasing you get when pitching samples down... This would have to be a prerequisite for any software claiming to emulate that machine.

ok, hope this helps: i don't have a real s1200, but i did a selection of demos in maschine for you. these are all using the S1200 emulator with no filter selected. 2 vocal, one using maschines 909 kit, and 2 with a selection from herbie hancocks butterfly. one vocal is using the pitch automation (the fast one) and one is the sample stepped either lower or higher. the same goes for the two herbie hancock samples. the 909 just has sounds pitched lower or higher. each one is a .wav exported using the export group function. i don't really notice too much of a difference between maschines normal mode and it's s1200 mode, but then again that's just me. it diddn't originaly have the feature, it was added recently as a public beta. seems more like a bonus/novelty kind of thing, unlike the destructive sampling feature that came with the same beta update. which rules!!! again, hope this is helps...

Ah, cool! Thanks for those... yeah, I can't hear much of a difference either. The last video seemed like it had a little of the high end aliasing, but certainly not of the extreme kind found in the SP.

(You're in Exton? My sister lives in Chester Springs-I was just out there [and am from that area]. Seems like the last place I'd expect to run into another VSE'r but you never know! )

thx! you wouldn't believe how long i spent trying to get it perfectly blank only to realize there was a smudge on my screen lol. but yea...i wanted those little sound clip things that expand when you click on them, but all i got were those crappy video uploads. i'm surprised it worked actually!

I'll have to take your word for it. Lossy audio compression is never going to allow one to hear these subtle differences.

they put it in battery now -

it adds a cool aliasing to the sound, and I find myself using it a lot on my samples, but I don't really care if it sounds LIKE the sp1200 or whatever, it just sounds cool regardless...
