Hello!
I got myself an E-MU E4XT Ultra and would like to load EOS-Banks I have converted out of my Emulator X3 into the sampler. I have an SCSI-CD-Rom, but it won't read CDRW's!
Ist there something like a USB to SCSI-adapter, so I can import my banks directly from a memorystick? Or would it make sense to get a SCSI-PCI-Card to transfer data from the PC to the E4XT?
Thanks!

USB-Drives and SCSI?
Good programming is worth more than the most expensive synthesizer.

You could get a USB zip drive and a SCSI zip drive and transfer back and forth between the 2.
You could get a SCSI CF card reader and a USB card reader and transfer back and forth between the 2 (this is what I am doing for my E4 Platinum I just got).
Look at scsiforsamplers.com

The USB protocol utilizes a computer's CPU, which means it needs drivers. Therefor, you cannot use USB with a piece of gear that's not designed for it unless you can modify the OS. In other words, you can't use a USB to SCSI adapter on a synth.

USB to SCSI adaptors like the old Castlewood unit ( and the castlewoods rebadged as Iomega) are reported to work for SMDI and file transfers for E4 samplers, but this is from a computer to the sampler. There's really no way to attach a usb device directly to the sampler.

Re: USB-Drives and SCSI?
I installed my SCSIforsamplers CF card reader in my E4 last night and I was blasting samples back and forth in no time. Highly recommended.
