NEED HELP with RARE Next DSJ-24 24bit digi Sampler

I got this sampler at a very good price thing is it will not power what is interesting is it has 6 battery cells in it rechargeable and says on the underside of the unit to charge for 36 hours before using ,,, But in standbay mode... Has anyone used one of these mysteries,,,
1) Do they preform good
2) 24 bit any thoughts
3) no Midi but uses parallel port lpt1 perfect for my ibm t23 laptop
4) Did I score or is this sampler s**t.
