Hi,
i have a broken Akai S 6000. It does not let me flash the flash ram. And it does not come up from the flash. Only sometimes it does boot from the floppy. So i think i must change the mainboard, because of a broken flash ram. I am curious if a Akai S 5000 Mainboard will work on the Akai S 6000? The Mainboard should be the same, cause as i opened my s 6000 it is written S5/6000 on the mainboard. But what is different on them that makes them a 5000 or a 6000?
Akai S 5000 6000 Mainboard differences?

Re: Akai S 5000 6000 Mainboard differences?
I have a couple of S5000s, and I think (although don't quote me) they are essentially the same sampler internally. With the S6000, it was essentially having the S5000 extras as standard (16 outs instead of 8, 128poly instead of 64, FX board built in, more RAM and a HDD/Jaz drive of some sorts?).
Externally, the S6000 has the detachable screen panel, the 5000 is built in (which I prefer).
