another stupid SysEx question

Post by cbjlietuva » Thu Oct 05, 2006 10:31 pm

OK- very simple.

i'm on a mac running OS X, i want to transfer patches to my new DX7IId via sysex. I'm using the sysex librarian. i've loaded the .syx file into sysex librarian... now what?

Is there something i have to do with the DX first before I hit record? on that note will i hit "record 1" or "record many" ?

thanks

Christian

Don't bother with the Record One/Many buttons--those are for recording sysex files from the instrument. In the destination menu (to the left of those buttons), select where your keyboard is connected (mine reads micro lite Port 3, as my DX7 is plugged into port 3 of my Motu midi interface). Then just select the sysex file you want to transmit and press Play.

By the way, I don't know if the DX7IId has the same, eh, "feature", but I know on the original DX7, you must tell the instrument whether to respond to incoming sysex data.
"Sure that's fine in practice, but what about in theory?"
