I just bought a used JP 8000 (Ebay). All controls function except the Tempo knob on the ARP.
I reset board to factory presets. Midi Sync is OFF. Upon power up, Arp tempo is set to high BPM.
Also, if I have Portamento on and turn the Time knob all the way to the right, the ARP BPM drops to 20 BPM and stays there until the board is powered off.
Is there some Midi parameter issue here? Can any tempo info be patched to a foot switch controller? Could it be a software issue?
Has anyone ever had this problem before?

I assume you have consulted the owner's manual about the arp, so I'd propose this: try to test the arp tempo pot with a digital multimeter and see what reading you get and compare to the value of the pot itself (usually printed on the back), Chances are that the potentiometer might need to be replaced.
