Hi all,
I was given a Novation SuperNova.
it turns on and I can play notes of the program, but when I try to change program, the unit freezes.
has anyone ever had the same problem or an idea about what could be faulty?
thanks a lot

Re: Faulty novation supernova - ideas?
Hi and welcome aboard,
I have no particular experience on the Supernova, but I have some experience on the Supernova 2.
Does the system sometimes freeze on start up and stays with the LED on? (Before changing presets )
Common faults for the supernova 2 (and I guess the supernova I) is the DAC, the ribbon cable and the ram chips.
First of all you should try a factory reset. (hold down part edit button 6 while you turn the synthesiser on)
Secondly you should check the PSU, it should supply something like 5V , +12/-12V or 5V +15V/-15V, I am not quite sure as I dont have the service manual . Noise on the psu rails can cause freezes, so an oscilloscope is useful for this task.
Thirdly , a problematic ribbon cable can lead to freezing issues.
And lastly , if none of the above are the issue, then it could be a RAM chip, finding the faulty one and replacing it, is a tough job.
