Hi, I have a problem with an old DX7. The keyboard works just fine, but a loud crackling sound occasionally comes and goes.
Please find the attached YT video (loud volume alert)
Here is what I tried so far:
- Replaced the volume slider pot
- Resoldered controls boards and main boards joints
- Replaced the 3V battery
- Checked for any loose connection on ribbon cables connectors: there are no loose connections, and the noise wont go away touching a specific connector.
Could you please give me some help?

This is static noise. Could be the result of a leaking capacitor that is accidentally connecting paths on a board. Look at the PCBs, you will spot leaked elekrolyte easily. Then you'd have to clean thoroughly and replace the cap(s) in question. Cleaning can be done e.g. with (distilled) water, soap and a toothbrush.
