Poly61 can't load from tape / No Saw DCO1

Post by ZacMaybe » Wed Nov 06, 2019 5:27 pm

Hi there,
I've just brought a poly 61 back from the dead, but I am still having one big issue. I am unable to load from tape. When I enable the tape setting, "Tape" DOES show up on the display as will verify, save, and load.
However! When I play the data tone into the "From Tape" input, nothing happens. I initially thought this was a volume issue so I keep bringing up the volume of the signal and attempt again. At a certain point I just get the "Err" message (tried on both Low and High settings).
It is doing something though.. After I goe through the same process in the "Load" setting, the load message just remains so I hit cancel, but it seems to wipe and replace any patches I have previously created. The thing is, all of the patches are just wild and don't make sense. As if it just hit Random for all settings.
The battery did leak in this unit, however I cleaned it up and replaced anything that had corrosion . I also cleaned up all the traces but none were broken so I have not retraced any. I have not re-soldered any of the IC chips, and I suspect one of these could be the issue.
Has anyone ever experienced this issue? If so, any pointers at which IC to look at first? Also, I should mention that the SAW waveform of DCO 1 seems to not work. When I shift from waveform 2(Square) to 1, it sounds identical. I have tried many variations just to see if it is a square-ish sounding saw or something.. but it is IDENTICAL. Any input greatly appreciated!
