Hello world.
Based on the reply, it sounds like the solution I was seeking. I am marking this as resolved - thank you for the help!
I've had an EPS 16+ for many years, but haven't used it as much as I'd like, until now - I've ordered a SCSI2SD device and expect it to arrive in about a month and a half. I've organized my diskettes, so they'll be ready to load to the SD card when the time comes.
I'm not sure how to word the question - so the topic wording was a bit off, I think... If I knew how to word the question, I probably could have found the answer in the manual!
I did look through the manual, but as I mentioned, I'm not sure what to look for, so I'll just explain what I'm attempting to accomplish.
I have a diskette with a sample of the D-50, called D-50 Partial ; each note/key (or sometimes two notes/keys) have their own sound, individual - in the same way a drum kit is split up on the keyboard. I want to take that one wavesample, or note, or whatever it is called, and move it to its own instrument, and transpose that (if that's the right term?) to the entire keyboard.
I know I could do it by sampling it externally, but I am sure I'm just missing something - I think I did this in the past, but just can't remember how it is done... Or maybe I never figured it out because it isn't possible - I'm rambling, so I'll stop now.
Specific instruction/direction would be appreciated.
Regards

If I read you right, I'd delete the other sounds in the patch. Reset the keyboard range & save it under a different name. Then yo'll have the full keyboard as that instrument & be able to call it up without destroying the original patch.

That sounds like, just maybe - will have to give it a go - appreciate the guidance. Now to figure out how to do all of this again!
I set the EPS aside for years, because I have always been worried that the diskettes would die on me. Now that I have a Micro SD card that will go into a SCSI2SD (once it arrives, it is on its way) I will be able to use it every, single, day! Not excited at all...

It's a great machine! I understand the fear. I use my old machines quite a bit. Always fear the that one time I'll it the switch & they'll just not work. Fortunately they are rising in value. The cost of repair is not wasted money. That's the Glass Half Full point of view

I'm glad I bought the SCSI2SD, but I also bought a guitar and audio interface, and I've spent the past month setting up all the software to go with, and tweaking it... And now I still can't get the EPS to do what I want.. *sigh* I don't even remember how to figure out which layer the sample is in, to figure out how to get around the 'layer edit not allowed', so I guess I'll have to read the whole manual.Hyde wrote: ↑Fri Oct 30, 2020 4:53 pmIt's a great machine! Edit->Wav buttons get you to the current selected wave sample. there you can up/down for layer & play keys to see/hear sample number
