Hi,. ..Trying to get a very old Roland cr78 drum machine working.
..It's not been used in about 25 years... It powers on, all 5 if the small red lights on the front facia controls are illuminated (permanent lit on in bright red colour)... They do not appear to be doing anything such as pulsing or flashing to any selected push button rhythm selector button controls or beat patterns etc...
Does anybody out there have any advice or ideas how I can get this machine up and running and bring it back to life and get it fully working again please ? ...This machine has been stored and not been used in a very very long time...but it did work ....So whatever is the issue, it's likely due to not having any use for such a long time... (We are talking a great number of years !) ... Any info or tech help appreciated ...I'd love to get this cr78 machine working and be able to use it again...- .Obviously..
Any help or info appreciated...Please get in contact ..Write to me at: [email protected]
Thank you !

Hi, firstly I would suggest opening it up and carefully inspecting the boards inside. Take a look especially at the battery to see if it has not leaked and did not damage the surrounding components. It is very likely that this has happened as those batteries start leaking over time and causing corrosion to the board traces and components, resulting in a very odd behaviour of the machine. The damage can be quite serious and hard to repair, but if you catch it early enough, then you might be luckier and get away with a simpler fix maybe... so please take a look at the insides first and let us know...

I would also start with an internal inspection and damage search. There may be a problem with oxidized contacts or damage to the board. You may need to purchase some parts.

Ditto to inspecting the board for damage (battery leakage) first, particularly on this machine. If it looks OK, I have a few videos on my youtube channel showing how I go about troubleshooting dead drum machines (all lights on and nobody home is typical of a non-running microprocessor)
