Ensoniq EPS rackmount random "disk not formatted" error

Post by merovie » Sat Mar 26, 2022 7:12 pm

I have an Ensoniq EPS rackmount that will randomly not boot up saying the disk in not formatted. I am pretty sure it has to do with the temperature in the music room and weather outside but I don't know for sure. It has a floppy emulator in it now and there is nothing wrong with the thumb drive or emulator at all. It did this when it had a regular floppy drive in it.

It wasn't always like this. It used to be very reliable.

I have a window unit in the music room, but I don't run it 24/7 because I can't afford to, and it is on the second floor of the house, and it seems to mostly do this when it is uncomfortably warm in the room. But not always. Sometimes it can be 72 degrees in the room, and it still acts up.

Is this something that can be repaired? It ALWAYS does it when I am inspired to write music and by the time it decides to work again the moment has passed.
